About Book Sale Near Me
Book Sale Near Me is a nationwide directory of library book sales, Friends of the Library clearance events, and year-round library bookstores in the United States. Type in a ZIP code, choose a distance, and see what is actually happening near you, sorted by how far you would have to drive or by the date the sale opens.
Who runs this site
The site is published by Chesapeake Books LLC, a Maryland limited liability company. We are used-book sellers first. We built this directory because finding library sales meant checking dozens of library calendars, Friends group Facebook pages, and community bulletin boards one by one, usually after the good sales had already ended.
Everything on the site comes out of that day-to-day sourcing work: the distance filter, the date window, the reminders, and the guides on pricing and what to expect at a sale.
Where the listings come from
Listings are compiled from primary sources: public library websites and event calendars, Friends of the Library pages and newsletters, official social media accounts of the hosting organization, local news coverage of an announced sale, and details submitted directly by organizers.
Every entry is tied to a source we actually read. We never estimate a date, invent an address, or copy a sale from another directory without confirming it at the source.
Our verification standards
- A listing is published only when the venue name, city, ZIP code, and dates are all stated by the source. If any of those is missing, the sale is left out rather than guessed at.
- Sales with an announced-but-not-final date are labeled *Unconfirmed Date so you know to check before driving out.
- Ongoing library bookstores and permanent sale shelves are listed as year-round instead of being given a fake single date.
- Past sales are removed from search results automatically, so you only ever see events from today forward.
- Duplicate entries for the same recurring sale are merged into one listing with its additional dates noted.
While we strive for accuracy in our listings, we can't guarantee that all the information is completely accurate or up to date. Organizers change and cancel sales, sometimes at short notice. When a sale matters to you, confirm it with the library before you go.
Corrections and submissions
If you organize a sale, or you spotted something wrong in a listing, tell us and we will fix it. Corrections from organizers take priority over every other source. Reach us through the contact page or ask about promoting a sale on the advertise page.
